According to the preliminary statistics by State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, during 2019 Ukraine has commissioned 4505 MW of renewable energy capacities. Investment volume in 2019 reached Euro 3.7 billion.
The distribution of commissioned capacities by technologies was:
- 3537 MWp Commercial solar PV (78,5%)
- 243 MWp Household solar PV (5,4%)
- 637 MWp Wind power (14,1%)
- 15 MWp Small hydro (0,33%)
- 73 MWp biomass and biogas (1,6%)
Thanks to renewable energy Ukraine has taken 8th place in the ratings of renewable energy investment attractiveness by research agency Bloomberg New Energy Finance. In 2018 the country occupied 63rd position.
As of January 1st 2020 total capacity of renewable energy in Ukraine reached 6779 MWp (according operational data of State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving)
Annual statistics until now (new annual installed capacity in brackets):
- 2015 р. - 999 MWp (+32 MWp)
- 2016 р. - 1135 MWp (+136 MWp)
- 2017 р. - 1426 MWp (+291 MWp)
- 2018 р. - 2274 MWp (+848 MWp)
- 2019 р. - 6779 MWp (+4505 MWp)
Total investment in renewable energy during the last 5 years have reached Euro 4.9 billion.
Commissioned capacities allow Ukraine to decrease its greenhouse gases emissions by 9.2 million tons annually. This volume can be compared to emissions by 4.5 million cars.
